It is a smart UX design concept “Make it easier for the user is core
motive behind this” . A work area comprises the complete set of tasks,
searches, reports, embedded analytics, and other related content of the
business process that a user needs to accomplish a business goal. The scoping a
work area starts with identifying a set of user roles and tasks related to
business processes intended to complete in the certain work area. The primary
criterion for combining tasks into a single work area is that users should not
have to navigate back and forth among multiple work areas to accomplish a
particular business process.
The Role to the function/task mapping concept makes it easy. If
Timekeeper wants to review/audit the timesheet using a report and wants to
correct those then both access are available in same work area it would be easy
for the user.
Example, a timekeeper task of auditing
a timesheet, change the cost allocation, verifying paycheck etc. is a daily
business activity is centered on accomplishing the same. These are functionally
different tasks, each might be placed in a different work area; however, this
would require the timekeeper to switch among multiple work areas to perform
their business activities. By integrated these task into a single work area to
streamline users' work which accomplishes a business goal quicker with pleasant
application experience.
